James E. Geistert of Michigan passed this life peacefully in the comfort of his loving family on July 22,
2020 at the age of 87 in Trinity, Florida.
James was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on December 21, 1932 to Walter and Dorothy Geistert.
Beloved husband to Donna of 53 loving years. Dear father to Jeffrey, James (Jeanne) Jones, Jerry (Kathy)
Jones. Loving Grandfather of 6 and most adored Great Grandfather of 10.
Jim served as a Military Police Officer in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He then graduated from
Michigan State University with a degree in Accounting. Jim eventually earned a CPA degree during his
employment as an IRS Special Agent for 30 years.
After retirement Jim and Donna became “Snowbirds” in Florida, where Jim pursued his passion for Golf.
It was very challenging these past 5 years recovering from a stroke. Jim and Donna continued to return
to their second home in Florida, never complaining (except when MSU lost). Jim fought a good battle to
the bittersweet end and managed to stand stronger than many of us could.
Jim was an absolute blessing to his family with his kind heart, his joy and his pride.
He will be missed and remembered by his family.
Speak of me as you have always done.
Remember the good times, laughter, and fun.
Share the happy memories we’ve made.
Do not let them wither or fade.
I’ll be with you in the summer’s sun.
And when the winter’s chill has come.
I’ll be the voice that whispers in the breeze.
I’m peaceful now, put your mind at ease.
I’ve rested my eyes and gone to sleep,
But memories we’ve shared are yours to keep.
Sometimes our final days may be a test,
But remember me when I was at my best.
Although things may not be the same,
Don’t be afraid to use my name.
Let your sorrow last for just a while.
Comfort each other and try to smile.
I’ve lived a life filled with joy and fun.
Live on now, make me proud
Of what you’ll become.
