Pedro Juan Lopez
May 3, 1943 - September 18, 2021

Pedro “Peter” J.  López Rivera of San Juan, Puerto Rico passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the age of 78. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the struggle, Peter came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. Peter was born in Santurce (San Juan), on May 3, 1943, to father Juan López and mother Mary Rivera. The oldest of four children, Peter obtained a Business Administration’s Associate Degree. His work ethic and love for his country led him to enlist in the Army National Guard and then voluntarily enrolled to serve during the Vietnam War. At the end of his military service, Peter returned to Puerto Rico where he worked in the Tourism Industry and later owned and managed a few businesses in the Automobile and Fuel Industry. He then met and married Sonia Echavarry. Together, they had three children. He truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, eating out at restaurants, traveling, playing dominoes, watching his favorites sports shows, reading the Bible, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Peter had a bright personality and was known for his ability to sense when people were in need. He touched many lives with his generosity and passion for life. Peter was preceded in death by his parents; and by his siblings Raúl López and Awilda López. He is survived by his wife Sonia Echavarry; children Jennifer López, Pedro López, and Michael López; grandchildren Yoniel Gómez, Yan Michael López, Lauren Nicole Acevedo, and Audrey Nicole Acevedo; and brother Oscar López.
